Day 116: Times Have Changed Since I was 16: A Photo Blog

Today I received my new driver's license in the mail with a new photo on it. I have been saving my driver's licenses since I first received one. It is fun looking back to see what I used to look like and remember the days that I took the pictures. It has been quite a journey. And (knock on wood) I have not ever been the cause of an accident. There was that time a deer slammed his head into the driver's side door of my dad's Silverado. But that doesn't count. Enjoy!

Here's the run down:

2002 (16) - I didn't know if I was supposed to smile in these photos. I aquated them something like a mugshot. Despite my expression, I was very excited to get my license.

2006 (20) - A girl had just broken my heart the night before. I was definitely not in a good mood that morning.

2007 (21) - I just turned 21, started working at Mackinac Island during the summers. Life was good and the hair was long.

2012 (26) - My girlfriend and I were leaving the island to take a mini vacation in the winter. Those were good times. And getting off the island to go anywhere was like a vacation. Walmart was like Disney Land.

2016 (30) - They used the same picture from 2012.

2020 (34) - I just turned 34 and things are great. I just got back from Alaska and started a new/old job at Atherton High School.

Author's Note #1: My early twenties' hair was the best. That will definitely come back when I am having a midlife crisis.

Author's Note #2: I think my glasses are crooked in the newest one. Damn it! Four more years!

Author's Note #3: I also grew since 16. I used to be 5' 1. Now I'm 6' 3! Who woulda thought those growth hormones would work?
