I want to remember the first time I saw you

The song that was playing in the coffee shop

And that awkward moment when I asked to sit

I want to remember the dress you were wearing

And that terrible joke I told

That you found so funny

I want to remember the first time we held hands

The stars that were out that night

And the silence as we sat and thought about our lives

I want to remember the first movie we went to

When you introduced me to your parents

And how horrible we thought it went

I want to remember every part of you

Your sideways smile

And those nervous blinks

I want to remember the smell of your sweater when you’re gone

And the perfect way to make your eggs

I want to remember it all

But I haven’t met you yet

Someday maybe

I’ll remember our lives together

Every little piece
