Day 230: Willow

The tree of natural wonder
I wonder
If the cause of your sagging branches
Is strictly the blame of gravity
Or something more subtle
An eager plant, hungry for water
Even the deep dark roots won’t satisfy
Every arm used against the calling of the sun
To slurp up every ounce
Like a sponge, absorbing
All the waves of life
Broad roots standing tall against the bombardment
Of the endless heartbreak
Growing wrinkles against the current
Is the thirst unbearable?
Has the age of the world left you tired?
A symbol of desire and sadness
Love to drive an unintended growth
With your head facing down
As a reminder of power and perseverance
