I’m really annoying myself with this. And I have to write this now because the suspense is eating me up inside. I have been staring at the cover of the movie Rudy for about two months now. It is on the top of a stack of DVDs that were sent to my colleague from a person that thought the Alaskan bush community would love watching documentaries about 1964, dinosaurs, Shakespeare, Silicon Valley, a Right-leaning take on global warming, and the classic football flick, Rudy.
I have known about the movie Rudy since one of my best friends quoted it about a few dozen times in high school. It has been one of those movies that I always wanted to watch but never took the time to seek it out. It may shock you, but the first time that I watched Top Gun was only a couple of months ago. I know. I know. I think I even shed a tear for Goose.
Anyway, all I know about Rudy is that the star is Samwise Gamgee, he plays football (I am assuming well), and they chant his name at the end. It’s definitely got to make you feel good in the end.
For being such a huge fan of movies, it has been hard not watching the first triumph of Samwise. Or see Tom Cruise save the day for the two-hundredth time! But now the opportunity is right in front of me. There are more movies out there that are just beyond my peripherals. I think about them every once in a while. Like The Incredibles or Despicable Me and those yellow cyclops walking thimbles. I will see them all eventually.
As for Rudy...
I can’t take it anymore. The suspense of football glory is too much for me to take. I'm pressing play! I’ll see you on the other side.
Author's Note #1: The DVD menu looks like a SEGA Madden Game from the mid 90's. And the slight hum of a crowd reminds me of RBI Baseball for the original Nintendo.
Author’s Note #2: I recently watched the original The Blues Brothers too. Sorry, Brian, but I wasn’t too impressed.
