Day 346: Cork Board Picture Wall and You

Night after night I stare at blank walls in my living room. At first, I smile because I am happy about the new color. Then I wonder about all the things that I am supposed to put on the walls. There is pressure to normalize a house to make it look like what a “house” is supposed to look like. I’m sure there is a blog about it. I haven’t studied feng shui enough in my life to know what I am talking about when I think about decorating. I know I have a good eye for balance because I am OCD. (One chair is still bothering me, but I’ve learned to live with it.) I know of one thing that I want on a wall, but I will wait until it is complete to reveal it. But “real” homes have pictures of family and friends on the wall with decorative frames, staggered in geometric bliss to incite a soothing feeling while staying organized. Right? But I really don’t have large pictures of friends or family and I don’t think that would look normal in a single man’s house until I have children. (And I assume I’m not single anymore).

But in the meantime...

My idea for one wall is large corkboards. I have a few actual pictures printed, and I can print more and hang them up. But I don’t want the wall to be just about me. The idea is that the people that visit the house bring their own photo and hang it up. That way the collage because something more than just my life. It’s a community board. It’s like signing a dollar bill at the bar and tacking it to the wall. But this will all be from people that I know and visit.

If you are reading this, I am asking for your opinion. Can you imagine a picture collage on a wall and do you think it would look good behind a couch, let’s say? And would you like to contribute to it?
